PRAYER FOR OUR MILITARY PERSONNEL
The following prayer was published in St. Andrew's Erie, Pa. weekly bulletin.
Lord Jesus, Savior of the World and King of Peace, watch over
relatives and friends in the service of their country. Protect them
from the physical and moral dangers of military life. Keep them close
to You and help them live the Commandments. Lord Jesus, give them
courage to serve their country with honor and dignity. Be with them when they
are in danger, strengthen them when they face hardship. Above all
Lord, grant that when their service is finished that they may return
to us, sound in mind, body and soul. Amen.
PENNSYLVANIA STATE COURT
The Pennsylvania State Court voted at the State Convention to support
the following two charitable organizations, and information was
presented at the last State workshop on each of them. Checks can be
made out to the "Pennsylvania State CDA Court," with a notation in the
lower left-hand corner the designation. Mail to Peg Rafferty, State
Secretary.
HAITI BIRTHING CENTER:
The Little Sisters of the Incarnation Society have started a birthing
center in the Central plateau of Haiti to assist the women there. They
normally give birth on the dirt floor and have a 50% mortally rate for
the babies. A mission team of Carmelite Community of the Word sisters
from the Altoona-Johnstown diocese and lay people travel to Haiti in
January to make improvements at the center. They are now collecting
money for more solar panels, so there can be electricity available as
needed.
MUSTARD SEED COMMUNITIES: These communities are started
in third world countries for handicapped children in the
country. These children have no one to care for them properly and
greatly look forward to mission teams coming into their country. The
teams train people in the country to be care givers for the
handicapped. There is an extensive site on the internet, "Mustard Seed
Community."
MORE INFORMATION ON THESE TWO GROUPS CAN BE VIEWED ON THEIR WEB SITE.
STATE PRO-LIFE PROJECT: At the 2007 Pa. State Convention the delegation voted to use money
donated towards the Pro-Life Project for advertising other than "Billboards Across America" which was
expensive and short-lived. Therefore, the Pa. State Court allocated money from the pro-life fund to Titan
Advertising to place advertisement on two buses in the Philadelphia area which run in Philadelphia and
extend toward the Lancaster area. The ad is directed toward the pregnant mother to obtain assistance and
guidance rather than abortion as the end-all. The State Court is also considering expanding this type of
advertisement into other areas, i.e. the Erie area. At this time advertising in the Pittsburgh area is
unavailable. Pennsylvania local Courts and individuals can donate toward this Pro-Life Project. Checks are
to be made out to the Pa. State CDA (with pro-life fund on the check in the left memo section), and mailed
to State Secretary, Peg Rafferty.
